India’s fast-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya provided the first breakthrough for Rohit Sharma’s side in their second Champions Trophy 2025 match against arch-rivals Pakistan. Hosts Pakistan started steadily, with Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq building a calculated partnership.

Babar Azam, who scored a half-century in his last match against New Zealand, started strong, attacking the bowlers and reaching 23 off 26 balls. However, Hardik Pandya adjusted his length slightly, keeping the ball outside off with no real movement. Babar attempted a cover drive but edged it, and KL Rahul took a sharp low catch to his right. Hardik then gave a cheeky ‘bye-bye’ send-off to his counterpart.

Coming back to the match, India gained momentum after Hardik’s breakthrough. In the 10th over, Axar Patel’s brilliant direct hit resulted in another wicket for Pakistan, dismissing Imam-ul-Haq.
