The Hitman showed attacking intent from the start, reaching his century in just 76 balls with seven sixes and nine fours. This knock was a relief for him after a tough phase with poor performances against New Zealand and Australia in recent Test series.

Earlier in the innings, Rohit Sharma went past West Indies legend Chris Gayle to become the second-highest six-hitter in ODIs. Starting the match level with Gayle at 331 sixes, he moved ahead with a trademark flick for six over midwicket off Gus Atkinson in the second over.

After that first six, Rohit Sharma added two more, taking his tally to 334. However, he still trails Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, who holds the record with 371 sixes.
